PRESENCE is the first time that all the artists in the New Collection of Chinese Contemporary Art at the University of Salford have been shown together. The exhibition offers a contemporary view of Chinese culture to complement China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors, at the World Museum, Liverpool, and a unique insight into artistic practice and 21st Century culture across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. PRESENCE features work by 19 artists that address a range of themes including consumerism, technology, connectivity and the individual’s place in the world today. Works on display include sculptures, paintings, installations, videos and photographs, installed throughout the Grade I-listed St George’s Hall.
